FIVB OLYMPIC QUALIFIER in PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic

St Lucia Defeats St. Vincent!
St Lucia has done it again! A contingent of male players was selected to represent St. Lucia in FIVBs, Olympic Qualifier in Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic. The tournament took place from September 13-15, 2019. Saint Lucia’s men outdueled St Vincent and The Grenadines in the country versus country elimination process of the Beach Volleyball Continental Cup in the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association, one of the four zones within NORCECA Confederation.
The team comprised of Gillian Octave, Augustin Faulkner, Tevin St. Jean, and Curtney Germain. Gillian Octave and Augustin Faulkner of St Lucia-1 defeated Ronald Franklyn and Asmond Franklyn of St Vincent-1 by scores of 21-19, 21-19. While Tevin St Jean and Germaine Curtney of St Lucia-2 battled for three sets against Daryl Franklyn and Delshun Welcome before prevailing 2-1 (21-14, 18-21, 15-7).
The female contingent proved that there were equally competent with the male team. The Female team comprised of Kerin Neptune, Dala Noel, Yorsherbel Emmanuel and Jamilla Laniquot who battled at the Olympic Qualifier in Dominican Republic. In the preliminary round of the NORCECA beach volleyball tournament, Neptune / Noel defeated Simon / Peters 2-0 (21-12, 22-20) and Lasinquot / Emmanuel won against Payne / Thomas 2 -0 (21-14, 22-20). Lasinquot / Emmanuel responded with similar scores against Payne / Thomas 2 -0 (21-14, 22-20).
The Continental Cup of NORCECA grants one ticket per gender to the beach volleyball tournament of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Both male and female teams have showed how talented and determined they are. We congratulate team as the move on to the next stage of the tournament.
