Tyna Williams
William, a senior transfer from St. Thomas University, joined the Argo Family beginning this spring. She was a member of the Saint Lucia National Volleyball Team, helping lead the team to its first North, Central America, and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA) appearance, in addition to being named 2012 Winward Islands Championship MVP and 2012 Saint Lucia Volleyball Association Junior Female Volleyballer of the Year. William comes to the University of Providence following playing stints at the College of Charleston and St. Thomas University. Off the hardwood, William will continue her studies as a computer science major while at the University of Providence.
The Argos were one of three teams to have three players recognized as 1st Team All-Conference; Montana Tech and Rocky Mountain both had three as well.William led the team with 1.01 blocks per set, 92 total in her 91 sets played. That total – nearly 20 more than her closest teammate – included 15 solo blocks and 77 block assists. She also racked up 179 kills in 26 total matches, including 16 starts, third-best on the squad. “Tyna has the ability to take over any match with her play in the front row,” Duda (coach) said. “She showed that in that conference tournament. She did such a nice job of siding out well for us and taking the court away with her blocks.
We look forward to seeing more tittles to her name. Congradulations on your win and accomplishments.
